About this deal

An excellent controller expansion for Serato DJ and wonderful pad-based controller for any MIDI-mappable DJ software After Pioneer DJ debuted the sensational DDJ-SX Serato DJ controller a little while ago, the company has been delivering new technology to suit every use case. Whether you opt for the iPad-centric DDJ-WeGo2 or an accessory controller like the DDJ-SP1, there’s something for everyone.

Also included: several key updates to Rekordbox Video, an expansion offered in a previous update released in tandem with the DDJ-RZX. The new features include: iZotope, Powered by iZotope is a trademark or US registered trademark of iZotope, inc. in the US and other countries The Auto Loop feature on the pads works similarly to the Auto Loop with the push encoder. You’ll have 8 different loop values at your fingertips here, and parameter arrows to cycle through loop lengths. The 2 pad sampler modes also work in conjunction with your Serato DJ 6 sampler. One slight difference here is that your machine will alter the volume of your samples according to the strength of your tap in velocity mode. There's no sense in making a DJ controller both portable and compact if you always seem to end up having to fish lose knobs or fader caps out of your bag after your set starts. The built quality alone is probably half the reason Pioneer Pro DJ gear is so popular in the first place, and the DDJ-SP1 is a pretty good example of why. At the same time, Pioneer didn't sacrifice the feel of their oh-so playable pads and tweakable knobs just to provide you with bulletproof portability - the DDJ-SP1 is more like a finely tuned instrument made for DJs to play with than a "controller" in the conventional sense. Pioneer Pro DDJ-SP1 Digital DJ Controller Features: If you’re more of a fan of the Rekordbox software offered by Pioneer DJ, you’re not limited to Serato either. The DDJ-SP1 also supports Rekordbox access.

With this powerful tool, you get to add pre-mapped dials and buttons to the software samples, including eight hot cues and more than 30 FX options powered by iZotope. The biggest downside for most people will be that the DDJ-SP1 comes with a hefty price tag when you consider that you don’t get Serato DJ software included. In a single effect mode, the same kind of buttons and knobs control the effect to switch it on and off. You can also adjust the parameters of the effect according to your musical needs. While the Pioneer DDJ-SP1 price isn’t as huge as it could be, compared to other Pioneer products, it doesn’t come with Serato DJ as standard. So what we have here is a cut down DDJ-SX minus the jogs and mixer, that sits above or indeed below the new DJM-900SRT and adds a solid lump of Serato DJ control to an otherwise traditional setup. On one hand, it adds a lot of functionality to a turntable based setup, and on the other actually makes parts of a CDJ based one redundant.

The FX section here takes control of Serato effects, so you can’t use it for audio effects at this point. Just like its predecessor, the Digital DDJ-SX, the SP1 has designed and constructed to be strong and sturdy yet lightweight, and to uphold excitable use. The controller looks smart with the aluminium facade, durable rubber pads and overall slim build. If you’re a Serato DJ user who doesn’t think their controller provides adequate access to certain performance modes and effects, then the Pioneer DDJ-SP1 could be perfect for you. We do wish that some basic transport controls lived in this section as well – a simple pause/play button would be useful for using in a SP1 + mixer setup. PADS A-POPPIN’ The DDJ-SP1’s pad controls

That means that you don’t have any other terminals to extend functionality with. Pioneer DDJ SP-1 Controller for Serato software DJs simply add the DDJ-SP1 to a set up that supports mixing and scratching with Serato DJ – for example a laptop, timecode CDJ/turntables and DJM-900SRT mixer or DDJ-S1 controller. [ii] They can then get hands on with pre-mapped buttons and dials to trigger the software’s six samples, eight Hot Cues and over 30 FX Powered by iZotope – without the need to touch the keyboard or mouse. Pioneer’s DDJ-SP1 also maintains the same strong and reliable build as the larger Pioneer products on the market.Like the forerunner that came before it, the DDJ-SP1 withstands the unpredictable environment of the DJ booth, with a stylish yet durable aluminum faceplate.
